If it says get rich quick, then it’s a get-rich-quick scam. That’s the general rule of thumb both online and off. Every single scheme we’ve examined on the Internet that promises anyone can sign up and make lots of money both easily and quickly has been ripping people off.
Obviously we discuss get-rich-quick scams a lot on this site. And the popularity of these types of scams has led to the rise of one pertinent question; is it actually possible to make money online? With the vast amount of misinformation that surrounds the subject of making money online, it’s not hard to see why people get confused.
The good news is this; YES. You absolutely can use the Internet to make money. But if you’re waiting for us to reveal some secret “formula” or “underground software” that is going to make you rich, quickly on autopilot then you’re in the wrong place. Searching for that sort of nonsense is just going to get you scammed, over and over again.
If you’re looking to make money online, one of the most important things to understand is that you will get out of it what you put into it. By that we mean you need a realistic expectation of effort versus reward.
So yes, there are some quick and easy ways to make some money online, but you probably won’t make much. And yes, there are ways you can potentially make significant money online, but it won’t be quick or easy.
Supplementing an income…
If you’re just looking to make a little money, maybe to supplement an income, then you can get started right away. There are plenty of quick and easy ways to make money online providing you have realistic expectations.
For example, there are great survey taking websites online like Swagbucks that will let you earn digital cash that can be swapped for gift cards from places like Amazon. The more surveys and tasks you complete, the more you can make, but these sites are never going to replace a full time income.

Building a career online
If you’re turning to the Internet to start a career and generate a full time income, then it is important to know that this will take plenty of effort, time, patience and most importantly the ability to learn. Whatever route you take – and there are plenty – making a career from the Internet isn’t a shortcut and it shouldn’t be looked on as one.
Any scheme that claims it has the secret formula or underground software – or any other kind of buzz phrase – that once in your possession will make you rich (subject to you paying a sign-up fee, of course) is lying to you.
But there are ways to make a good living online, and yes, some people do make lots of money. But again this boils down to effort vs. reward. People who have made a living for themselves online have worked hard to achieve that, and so can you. We discuss this in more detail and provide some recommendations in our article coming soon.
